The Red Brick Heart

A love as tragic as that of Romeo and Juliet, the tale of Orio, a fisherman, and Melusina, a mermaid, has been passed down through time. The Legend: One night near Malamocco, Orio saved Melusina from his fishing net. They fell in love, and she renounced her mermaid nature, asking only that he never enter their home on Saturdays. But curiosity overcame him, revealing her secret: every Saturday, she transformed into a serpent. They married, had children, and lived happily - until Melusina fell ill and died. Yet, her love endured. Mysterious forces tidied their home until Orio, finding a serpent inside, killed it, only to realize too late that it was Melusina, watching over them in death.
